With your business gas and electricity supplies, the main problem is that you will most probably be in a contract.
Most businesses find themselves on evergreen “roll over” contracts that renew automatically, unless broken by the customer. This means the onus is on you to give notice in advance to avoid automatic renewal of your contract, and a likely price increase.

This letter will give you an end date by which you must respond, otherwise the prices quoted in the letter will be applied from the due date for the period stated. This is usually for one year but may be longer. If you do not respond to this letter, your business is tied into that deal and is deemed by the utility supplier to be under contract.
As mentioned before most business owners do not have the time or even the inclination to work out exactly how much more they are going to be paying for their electricity or gas. You may not be aware of how to avoid being tied in to an uncompetitive renewal price when your existing contract expires.
